Overview

We are recruiting new
trustees to our Board

We are a successful charity that enables families and individuals experiencing poverty and/or fleeing domestic violence to move forward with their lives. We achieve this by providing:
• Support, therapy and independent advocacy for those fleeing domestic abuse.
• Practical support including a foodbank, a community pantry and furniture.
• A community hub providing a safe space, café, advice and social activities.

We are looking for up to four new trustees who are passionate about supporting those experiencing disadvantage in the Amber Valley. At this time we are keen to strengthen our board’s expertise in the following areas though applications from those without these specific skills are also welcomed and individuals from minority communities are especially welcome.
– Charity finance including budgeting and year-end accounts (Treasurer Role).
– Working with children and young people including experience of Ofsted.
– Corporate Social Responsibility and networked with businesses in the region.
– Developing communications strategy including social media.
– Income generation including social enterprise.

As a trustee you will:
• Have an induction, training and reimbursable expenses.
• Contribute to helping those experiencing disadvantage to build new futures.
• Have opportunities to develop new skills and to network with professionals.
The minimum time commitment is bi-monthly board meeting which usually takes place in Heanor. As well as preparing for the board meetings trustees may be called upon for specific advice and support in their areas of expertise and/or to serve on a sub-committee.

Closing Date: 12th June 2024

About Salcare

Salcare is a charity – a ‘one-stop shop’ providing support for the people of Amber Valley and Erewash. We have been around since 1977 and we feel like part of the Heanor community and we know that is how people feel about us.
We help anyone in need, whether they have been referred to us by organisations such as social services, the police, domestic abuse services or job centres.  It doesn’t matter if you are outside the Amber Valley/Erewash boundaries – if you need help we will help you!

The benefit of having all the information as well as aid and assistance in one place is to be able to make sure that people who require support of any kind can be helped to make safer choices for themselves and their families.
