Volunteer Group Facilitator
Location: Derbyshire
Salary; This is an unpaid role. Reimbursement available for any out of pocket expenses.
Hours: 2-6 per week

The aim of this role is to facilitate peer led mental health support groups around the county of Derbyshire, to encourage the groups to be safe and fun environments, help to promote the group, help the groups become self-sufficient, help the group to continue to offer supportive forums for anyone who is affected by mental illness. This is a rewarding role as you will be helping group members to take part and engage with other like-minded individuals in their local area.

You will encourage the groups to become self-sustainable.

Promote the importance of peer support within the groups. Have an in interest in mental health or supporting those with mental illness.

Have good knowledge of the local area with excellent active listening skills and the ability to build rapport with the understanding of the principles of Peer Support and Recovery.

Be able to relate to people from all backgrounds and the ability to remain non-judgemental and understand the importance of confidentiality.

You will have the support of one of three group development workers, the peer and volunteer coordinator and the service manager

The DRPSS roles are always under development and are totally unique, if you have got lived experience of a mental illness or if you have an interest in mental health, perhaps you want to work in the

We have a full package of training available both from Rethink Mental Illness and external sources such as Derbyshire County Council.
The groups are Derbyshire wide, wherever you live in the county of Derbyshire we aim to grow groups near you, (exception – Derby City).
We are passionate about creating a diverse workforce and positively encourage volunteers from a wide and varies demographic and as a volunteer and facilitator, you would be a valued member of the team, helping to build our peer support network and facilitate or run a mental health self-help group.
