Overview

DID YOU KNOW THAT 2.4 MILLION ADULTS IN ENGLAND ALONE CAN BARELY READ OR CAN’T READ AT ALL?

We need your help to change people’s lives.

If you can read fluently and have a couple of hours a week to spare, then why not consider applying to be a volunteer Reading Coach?

After an initial selection procedure, all our volunteers are given training before being matched up with those who want to learn. You and your Reader will be given a choice of places to meet so that you can choose somewhere that suits you both.  All reading sessions take place in quiet, discreet venues so that you can work without being overlooked, but where there will always be other people around.

You will meet with your Reader for half an hour, twice a week. Some Readers will complete the course in as little as nine months, whilst others will take more than two years.

If you are patient, positive and encouraging and would like to make a difference please email: derbyleader@readeasy.org.uk to find out more.

About Read Easy Derby & District

Read Easy Derby & District is a registered charity that provides one-to-one reading coaching to adults, using trained volunteers. By enabling people to tackle their reading difficulties, Read Easy allows each individual to grow in confidence and self-esteem, become more independent, move on to other forms of education if they wish, and improve their employment opportunities.  Since we started in July 2021, we’ve grown to a team of 40 volunteers and we’d love to hear from you in you are interested in joining our team.
