Overview

Volunteer Patient Assistants, like Duty volunteers work on a rota basis, and are based at
Chesterfield Royal Hospital and UDBH Royal Derby Hospital sites to support ambulant
patients who have arrived via NEPTS transport to and from their clinic / ward and help
them to check in.
This role is important especially for patients who may feel nervous or confused about
coming into hospital and provides NEPTS transport crews with a faster ‘turn-around’ time.
Volunteer Patient Assistants are not required to be drivers but must be able to make their
own way to and from site. They must also be aged over 18 and be comfortable working
with patients
