Volunteer Car Drivers

Would you like to make a difference to the lives of people in your local community?

Derbyshire Community Transport were established in 1984 and have a base in Ripley. We have been successful in securing funding from Motability UK to run a pilot project to provide a Car Club and Voluntary Car Scheme in Belper.

We are looking for volunteers to drive our cars.

A fully accessible Ford Grand Tourneo

A 100% electric Nissan Leaf

Volunteers will support local residents to get out and about to;

Medical Appointments

Other Health related trips

Community Groups or Clubs

Social Outings

Your help will allow people to;

Enable their independence

Reduce social isolation

Promote community interaction

Have a positive effect on health and wellbeing

A successful volunteer will be;

Caring, considerate, patient and understanding

Flexible, reliable and helpful

Interested in helping people

Confident in engaging with all kinds of people in a friendly manner

An experienced and confident driver

Knowledgeable about the local area

Able to comply with policies and procedures

Additionally, the volunteer will hold a valid clean driving licence and agree to undertake an enhanced Disclosure and Barring check.

In return we will offer;

Recognised training for Car and MPV delivered inhouse in conjunction with the Community Transport Association

Safeguarding Training delivered inhouse

All training is provided at no cost to the volunteer

Reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses.

Full support from the Car Club Development Officer

No set hours, volunteer as and when you can
