Times: Thursdays, 9.15–11.15am (flexible rota
available) – Term Time Only
Reports To: Toy Library Coordinator
Role Purpose
To provide a warm, friendly, and supportive presence at our Stay & Play sessions. The Welcome Host Volunteer helps create a welcoming, safe, and inclusive environment for parents, carers, and children. This role supports the Toy Library the Coordinator with practical tasks and offers a listening ear to families who attend.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting Session Setup & Close Down Assist with setting up play areas, craft tables, and activity stations Help unpack and prepare toys and resources Support with packing away toys, cleaning equipment, and leaving the venue tidy Refreshments Prepare hot drinks for parents and carers
Help set out and serve simple, healthy snacks for children Follow basic hygiene practices during food preparation and clean up.
Welcoming Families
Greet parents, carers, and children as they arrive Create a warm, inclusive atmosphere for all attendees
Offer guidance on what activities are available Activity Support Join in with craft and play activities as needed Help engage children in age-appropriate play Assist the Coordinator in running simple activities
Family Support & Listening Ear Be a friendly, approachable presence for parents and carers Offer empathy and understanding.
Signpost families to the Coordinator when additional support may be needed We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds, and lived experience as a parent or carer is especially valued.
