Overview

Riding on a tram is one of the main reasons that people visit us and it’s our tram crew that make this happen. The most obvious part of this role is looking after passengers and issuing tickets but there is much more to the role than that, as well as being a friendly and welcoming face for visitors. Conductors ensure the safe operation of the tram and tramway.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO KNOW?

Tram Conductors must be at least 16 years old and have good health and mobility.

The Conductor is the visible presence of the Museum and the main contact between the Museum and our visitors. This means that you will need to learn how the Museum works and be comfortable explaining this. You will need to be able to understand instructions whether given verbally or in writing Conductors spend a lot of time on their feet and need to climb up and down tram stairs many times a day, this means you need a good level of mobility. In a normal day, crews run 10 to 12 trips.
