Overview
Careline is telephone befriending charity providing friendship calls to adults (18+) in the Derbyshire Dales, Erewash, and East Staffordshire. Careline aims to improve the well-being of its members by alleviating isolation, loneliness and social exclusion.
Each day there are 3 call sessions:
- AM – 10am-12pm
- MD – 12pm-2pm
- PM – 2pm-4pm
Calls can be made either from the Careline office or from home. Volunteers can commit regularly by joining the six-weekly rota or choose to help as gap-fillers by offering their availability whenever we send out requests for cover.
Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer is first invited to a friendly meet and greet at our office, where we have an informal chat about the charity, the service we offer, and what the volunteer role involves. After that, volunteers take part in a thorough induction and training programme, followed by ongoing support from the manager and befriending coordinator throughout their time with us.
Main Duties: Support members who may be isolated, lonely, or vulnerable by providing regular telephone contact that is positive and non-judgemental. Having someone to talk to on a regular basis can greatly improve mental wellbeing and help build confidence and self-esteem.
