Overview
As a reception volunteer for Strutt’s North Mill, you’ll be joining an amazing and creative team committed to bringing the history of Belper Mills and the Strutt family to life.
With training and support, you’ll be the friendly face that welcomes visitors to Strutt’s North Mill. Using a simple programme on a tablet, you’ll process ticket sales, shop sales and check visitor bookings. You’ll also accompany the tour guide to help keep everyone together and support where needed. Your session will last approximately 2.5 hours.
We recognise that volunteers are a vital human resource in developing and enhancing the work of Strutt’s North Mill and achieving its objectives as a heritage charity in the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. The Belper North Mill Trust is committed to providing opportunities for volunteers to practice and develop their skills offering them support, training and an enjoyable experience throughout their time with us. You’re also welcome to take on multiple volunteer roles should you wish to, and there is no minimum commitment.
On becoming a volunteer with us, you will have access to a wealth of information from our volunteer library, have the opportunity to attend talks, walks and trips, free on site parking, discount on our shop stock, and agreed travel expenses covered.
We really value and are incredibly grateful for the hard work of our volunteers. We couldn’t do it without them, and we thank you for considering giving your time to us.
