Overview
Responsible to: Tramway Operations and Visitor Experience Manager
Hours: Flexible, to work with Print Shop Operator. Approx. 10:00 to 15:00 on days when operating, but occasionally outside these hours.
Purpose of role:
To assist in the demonstration of the museum’s small printing workshop, the Eagle Press, for the enjoyment and educational benefit of our visitors.
Specific role
Print shop assistant
You should have an interest in letter press printing
You will assist the museum’s Print Shop Operator to learn how to lay out and print vintage handbills, notices and posters
You will be responsible for operating historic machinery, initially under instruction, and once proficient, under your own initiative.
You will engage with visitors of all ages, explaining the print shop and positively promoting the museum
You will assist in keeping the print shop safe, tidy and well-presented for visitors.
Training will be given.
General role
To act as an ambassador for Crich Tramway Village and the National Tramway Museum.
To ensure health and safety of visitors, volunteers and staff, following clear procedures
To work within the guidelines of the Volunteer Policy and related organisational policies (i.e., Safeguarding, Health and Safety, Equal Opportunities, Access, etc.).

The print shop contains potentially dangerous equipment and tools – you must learn, understand and follow all necessary risk assessments and procedures.
Please Note: This Role takes place in a relatively confined space.
