Overview
As a learning volunteer for Strutt’s North Mill, you’ll be joining an amazing, friendly and creative team committed to bringing the history of Belper Mills and the Strutt family to life for children and adults alike.
With training and support, you’ll work with the Volunteer Support Officer and wider volunteer team to develop, plan and implement a variety of fun and interactive sessions to bring history to life! We’ll help you to become a valued member of the learning group to deliver outreach sessions to schools, welcome youth group visits to the mill, help with craft workshops and much more!
We recognise that volunteers are a vital human resource in developing and enhancing the work of Strutt’s North Mill and achieving its objectives as a heritage charity in the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site. The Belper North Mill Trust is committed to providing opportunities for volunteers to practice and develop their skills offering them support, training and an enjoyable experience throughout their time with us.
On becoming a volunteer, you will have access to a wealth of information from our volunteer library, have the opportunity to attend talks, walks and trips, free on site parking, discount on our shop stock, and agreed travel expenses covered.
This is a part time opportunity without regular hours. Volunteering will be as and when bookings come in or events are organised. There is no expectation for you to volunteer for all tasks, and you are welcome to join in with other roles within the organization should you wish to after an induction.
We really value and are incredibly grateful for the hard work of our volunteers. We couldn’t do it without them, and we thank you for considering giving your time to us.
