Overview
Sight Support Derbyshire is an independent charity, which needs to raise funds in order to provide services for blind and visually impaired people around the county. We require a volunteer to help with counting coins from our collection boxes ready for banking.
What you will do: Working alongside another volunteer you will use our counting machine to count how much is in each collection box, keeping an accurate record in accordance with our counting procedures. You will then prepare the money for banking.
Times Expected: Time commitment will average around 1-2 sessions per month, with each session being around 2-3 hours. Day and time will be arranged with you to suit both yourself and the other volunteer and will be during office hours, Monday – Thursday. You will be based at our Derby office (address below).
Skills you will need to have: Numeracy, dexterity, confident using the counting machine following training, excellent attention to detail, patience, calm approach.
Sight Support Derbyshire Induction Details: You will attend an induction, which will provide you with an awareness and understanding of the main types of sight loss, the impact of visual impairments and how best you can support someone, including a sight guiding demonstration. We will also go through expectations as a volunteer and how you will be supported by us.
Specific Role Training Details: You will receive training specific to the task including how to use the counting machine and our counting procedures.
Expenses: We will reimburse your out of pocket expenses in line with our expenses policy.
Before you start: You will need to provide us with the names of two people who can give us a character reference for you.
