Overview

One weekend per month (November to March – 2025 dates to be confirmed) and you
can come as often as you would like to. There’s no expectation that you attend every
weekend.
What could you do?
Operating outside the opening season, the Crich Care Team do many of the jobs that can’t be done while we’re open. Our ‘Care’ weekends provide the opportunity to have lots of fun while looking after the site, with a variety
of roles both inside and outside. Team Green Fingers can be found tending to the grounds, planting bulbs and keeping up with general soft landscaping. Team Yellow Duster pay special attention to the collection and interiors of the buildings around the Village.

If you’d like something more hands on, we always need help fixing things, painting things and general site maintenance. This can include:
• Painting and Decoration – internal and external, including street furniture.
• Joinery – maintenance of fixtures and fittings, windows, hinges, door handles etc.
• Plumbing – unblocking sinks, waste pipes, drainage.
• Hard Landscaping – maintenance of pathways, repointing pavers and setts.
• Soft Landscaping – removal of vegetation, hand weeding and plant care.
This role would suit you if:
• you are looking for an opportunity that the whole family can be involved in.
• have limited time and availability.
• enjoy getting stuck in and want to make a difference.
• you have any trade skills or qualifications, although this isn’t necessary. There are always things to do
that you don’t need any qualifications for.
What do you need to know?
• We have volunteers of all ages and abilities at our Care weekends. We’ll work with you to find a role
that suits you.
• There are lots of things to do both indoors and outside, you can decide what you do based on the tasks
that need completing.
• Although there’s always lots to do, our Care weekends are just as much about meeting people, making
new friends and having fun.
• Crich can get a little chilly during the winter, wrap up warm!
What do we provide?
• We will provide you with the tools and PPE you need to complete your task.
• Lunch and unlimited hot drinks.
What do we ask of you?
• To act as a representative and ambassador for Crich Tramway Village and the National Tramway
Museum.
• To ensure the health and safety of visitors, volunteers and staff by following designated procedures.
• To work within the guidelines of the Volunteer Policy and other organisational policies.
• We realise that there are times when your plans may have to change. If you are unable to attend,
please let your department head know as soon as possible
